These lines of Sudarshan Fakir sung by Jagjit Singh Ji reminisce me of some wonderful moments of my childhood days which I’d passed in company of few Good friends.  A whole generation of ours had grown up listening to one of the most melodious voices of our time. His compositions were woven with a silken touch which had a soothing effect on our souls. Whenever life was not reciprocating, we use to seek solace in his voice. His compositions were like a magical wand which had always filled our hearts with great emotions.

With passage of Jagjit Singh Ji this morning, we have lost a soulful voice. A voice which we can relate with our growing up. We had always waited eagerly for the launch of his new albums. I still remember those days when Mirza Galib used to be telecasted on national network. His compositions of Galib poetry made a mark and his name became synonym to Galib. Who can forget his wonderful recitation of…

Few days back I heard he is again teaming up with Guljar Ji   for composing some more works of Galib. Unfortunately, we have been devoid of this great masterpiece due to his sad demise.
In fact, it was Jagjit Singh Ji whose composition of Firaq poetry had arose my curiosity to read some more works of this great poet. Who can forget…

His great compositions had introduced us to some wonderful works of poets like Ahmed Faraz, Sudarshan Fakir, Nida Fazli and Bashir Badr, among others.

He sang Urdu poetry for the common man depicting day to day philosophy of life as evident  in  the following lines of Nida Fazli:

Long ago, he sang these lines of Ghalib’s: “Maut se pehle aadmi, gam se nijaat paaye kyun...” and today when I heard about his sad demise these lines suddenly echoed in my mind.
My tribute to this mastereo……

A touching farewell to a great legend who led a life inflicted with personal tragedy which brought out the soulful rendition for which he will go down in history.
